Wig/Extension Wearing Tips
Full Wigs
- Get the correct wig size. If the wig is too small or fit too tightly, adjust the cap or make a minor wig
cap repair to ensure a comfortable fit.
- Select a style that compliments the shape of your face.
- Never wear a wig completely covering your hairline. Always
do the following: (1) Wear the wig slightly behind the hairline and blend your
edges, or (2) add baby hair to the perimeter of your full cap wig to display a more natural look.
- Never use water to style a synthetic wig. Water breaks down
the synthetic fiber and will ultimately shorten the life of your wig. Use mousse
to add curl definition & shine.
Half Wigs
- There is a quick technique used to assist clients that have problems attaching the flex comb due to having
fine or thin hair. Simply gather a section of your top hair and create a small
plait/braid. The plait/braid will serve as an attachment point for the flex comb.
- Wet hair or apply mousse to your natural hair when wearing a curly half wig. Thoroughly blend your hair with the curls or manually set your hair with small rollers to match the curl
pattern of your half wig. Straight hair
should NOT be combed over CURLY hair!
Extensions
- Match hair extensions closest to your hair color and texture. The
concept of wearing extensions is to appear that you’re not wearing any!
- Braids should never be too tight. If your braids are painful,
moisten them with braid sheen or moisturizing spray. If the braids are aching
after 2 days, they should be removed to prevent hair loss. (Always inform your stylist if the braid is wound too tightly or pulling a small hair.
As a courtesy, notify your stylist of this concern before your hairstyle is fully completed.)
